This was an awesome kit to learn how to start making wine, I love it!
it was perfect to try a small batch to see if the new flavor was worth a full size batch.
We have made one batch so far that turned out well, but only because we looked elsewhere for instructions. The included booklet is a poor step-by-step guide for a newbie and following it was the most difficult part of the process. After reading through the basic guidelines, flipping through various sections for more information, and then finally looking online to fill in the gaps we were finally able to get a clear process down. The equipment and ingredients are a good buy but I don't think I would recommend this to any other beginners unless they had other instructions to use.
As a novice wine maker who does a lot of reading before the first attempt. I probably would go with a larger more expensive kit, just for the ease of the process. I think a 1 gallon kit is to small to really experience the wine making process. But this kit was a good initiation to get you started. The explanations of all the whys and the how too's give you a good launch point. Basically tells you what stuff to ignore, and were to focus. I've made three batches starting at 1 gal. The last one was 4 gal. All of them have gone well. I haven't killed any of the neighbors yet! Thanks guys for a great product. I will be ordering more supplies soon.
