Defiantly did the job.

As a novice wine maker who does a lot of reading before the first attempt. I probably would go with a larger more expensive kit, just for the ease of the process. I think a 1 gallon kit is to small to really experience the wine making process. But this kit was a good initiation to get you started. The explanations of all the whys and the how too's give you a good launch point. Basically tells you what stuff to ignore, and were to focus. I've made three batches starting at 1 gal. The last one was 4 gal. All of them have gone well. I haven't killed any of the neighbors yet! Thanks guys for a great product. I will be ordering more supplies soon.

It's a great kit but unclear instructions

The booklet doesn't give step by step instructions but rather general information about wine making so you'll have to do a bit of research on your own--look up recipes that outline things step by step. It's not difficult per se, but it took a bit of time as a beginner trying to figure out exactly what I needed to do.

Just getting started

Purchased this wine kit and it was delivered in a very timely manner. Enjoyed the basic reading material. I found that the explanations were good. rather general but good. One thing that I took away was that with the equipment they send a small batch is not the way to go. The hydrometer that comes with the kit is easy to read but really doesn't fit the kit. After managing to get the wadding out of the carrying tube, which doesn't stand on it's own. If you have anything but pure liquid doesn't give a consistent reading. I do believe you have everything to get started. But just enough to be dangerous. There's a lot of reading to be done. I will have to say that I was pleased, after much research that the yeast strain is very complimentary. Especially if you like higher alchol leveles.

Great kit! Came with everything we needed, the instructions were easy, and we were able to make really good apple and grape wine from our garden's fruit, and now wild blackberry wine, too! Highly recommended!
