Product Details

Use Kieselsol in conjunction with Chitosan to help clarify your wine or beer. Add to secondary for best results.

General use:

Add Kieselsol first at the rate of 1/4oz per 5-6 gallons, after the wine has been degassed, and stabilized. Make sure that it is fully degassed, if not Kieselsol may not clear the wine. Gently stir the wine for 20 sec while adding to wine. Wait 1-24 hours before adding Chitosan to the wine at the rate of 1oz per 5-6 gallons. When adding Chitosan to wine, stir gently for 20 seconds then leave to clear. Clearing generally takes 1- 2 days, some batches may require a few extra days. May not clear pectin haze or products made with hard water.

For best results always use Chitosan and Kieselsol together.

Dosage:

  • 1/4 oz. per 5-6 gallons.

This product works amazing. Personal I don’t make wine or use it for wine. I use it to clear mash. Fermentation stops I wait a day then rack off the mash leaving most yeast at the bottom. Then I use kieselsol and chitosan to do my final clear. Then rack it into the still. Easy and clears well. CHEERS!

The liquid kieselsol is one of the clarifying agents used to help "clear" a wine. It is used when the wine has finished fermenting prior to bottling. When used correctly, kieselsol will produce a wine that is free from any haze. All of the prior particulate, typically suspended in the wine, falls to the bottom of the carboy as sediment if left undisturbed for about two weeks. A very helpful and easy finishing touch prior to bottling. Although kieselsol is usually provided as a fining agent in kit wines, I use it with much success in my country wines made from scratch.
