My cooler has thicker sidewalls and this is the right size. Good components, easy to work with.

Problems With Rubbermaid 10 Gln Cooler
The design is generally good and the assembly even had silicon tape on the threads. However, I purchased this to install a thermometer in a Rubbermiad 10 gallon cooler mash tun. The 2" stainless nipple that came with the assembly was about 1/2" too short. Had to go to the hardware store and buy a longer nipple. Would help if installation instructions were provided. Took me three tries at installing to finally get a good, no leak, seal. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't start leaking.

Nipple too short for Rubbermaid 10 gallon for thermometer application
The Rubbermaid 10 gallon cooler is thicker (about an 1 1/2") where you will drill your 7/8" hole for the brewrmometer application. This leaves enough threads to screw the nut & coupler on, but not nearly enough room for the sealing gaskets and the SS washers provided. You'll need a 3" inch nipple to provide enough thread depth to install all components that will provide a leak proof application. Disappointing, since I purchased the "XL" bulk head thinking that would be enough threads to install it properly.

Not a very good picture
The doesn't show the gap between the o-rings appropriately. This is for cutting a hole in the thick part of your cooler to add a sight or thermometer.
