4.7 / 5.024 ReviewsGreat product but can stain.Since this is based on iodine if you leave it in to long it will stain your buckets and equipment. Some got on my linoleum floor and stained it yellow. Works great otherwise.May 17, 2010Great stuffNever had a problem with minimum dilution and 2 minute contact time. No foam, drains easily, and leaves no flavors or odors in beer. Always sanitizes extremely well. Highly recommended.October 26, 2010My Favorite Sanitizer Option!Diluted to the proper 25 ppm or less concentrations--just follow the on-bottle directions--this sanitizer has little to no scent on its own and a bit of pink color. This pink color comes from the actual iodine in the product and you may notice that it does TEMPORARILY stain surfaces it comes in contact with._x000D__x000D_The reason the staining is temporary is that iodine will sublime from solid phase to gaseous phase at room temperature. I use this in my airlocks and the pink color from the iodine is gone within a day and all equipment sanitized with this loses the pink color very quickly as well. This is perfect because you can sanitize things like your bottles and let them drip dry for a while and little to no iodine residue will exist as long as the bottles dry well!_x000D__x000D_The only negative I can think of would be due to user misuse. For example, if you bottle your beer before the iodophor solution has dried, you have introduced iodine to your beer. This alone is not really a big problem, as it's perfectly safe in proper amounts, but be aware that the iodine can react with certain compounds in your beer and some percentage of people are extremely sensitive to the resulting compounds. I, personally, cannot taste iodine tainted foods/drinks, but those that do find them to taste absolutely terrible. This is also why you should never add iodized salt to your water for brewing._x000D__x000D_Use this stuff right and it's the ideal sanitizer! I gain my insights from my chemistry degree.February 7, 2011No foamI like that it doesn't foam, but it doesn't last as long as star san.February 13, 2013Good stuffWhen used properly this is really good stuff. I'd recommend rinsing thoroughly after using though just to be safe you aren't imparting any flavors. Good product.February 19, 2013Love itI love this. The IO star, I feel is the best on the market. Low foaming works in coldwater. It also hasa low contact time. If you dont have this get it.February 23, 2013Works wellThe only thing is that this stuff stains like crazy, just about everything it touches. I'm not sure how long this stuff stays sanitary, too. As in, I don't think that you can keep it in a bucket and use it two weeks later.February 27, 2013Awesomewont put a thing in my equipment without using this firstMarch 29, 2013First time useJust started brewing and I have to say that Io Star was a good so far. I have noticed that some of my equipment have stained a bit. I haven't noticed any off set flavors in my beer and I'm happy that I only have to use so little of it to sanitize.May 30, 2013Excellent sanitizerNo infections since using this, it kills everything. I use it as directed, diluting it, and applying it, and don't have long term staining problems. It's good that it doesn't foam up like Star San.May 31, 2013
