Everything you'd expect from a root beer is present: notes of vanilla, caramel, licorice, and sarsaparilla all meld into the creamy, decadent body of the base beer. Sip on a pint and be whisked back to your childhood, (which was hopefully better than the Bastard Stepson's) or couple it with vanilla ice cream for a truly delicious treat.

I did not expect such a strong root beer flavor. I probably should have used half the extract or maybe even less. I put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in and it was as good as any root beer float that I have had. I suggest bottle it only do not put in a keg unless you really like root beer.
Very tasty and refreshing. I agree with the substitution of Stevia for the included sweetener. Makes for a smoother taste. Also added 12oz of Rebel Yell Root Beer whisky at bottling as a kicker. Outstanding result.
This is my favorite beer ever and it's not sickening sweet like the commercial hard rootbeers
Very tasty but I didn’t use the artificial sweetener that came with it. I used 1/2 teaspoon of Stevia extract per five gallon batch instead. This is basically a stout with root beer extract. Tasty and different.
I've bought this recipe from NB a couple times and we like it enough that I've got to keep it on hand. It compares well to the commercial brands and tastes great.
