Product Details

Even if this were his Father's Root Beer, he wouldn't know. The Bastard Stepson Root Beer started out as a wholesome traditional cream stout, but after mixing things up with a rowdy bunch from the other side of the aisles, turned into something a bit more mischievous...

Everything you'd expect from a root beer is present: notes of vanilla, caramel, licorice, and sarsaparilla all meld into the creamy, decadent body of the base beer. Sip on a pint and be whisked back to your childhood, (which was hopefully better than the Bastard Stepson's) or couple it with vanilla ice cream for a truly delicious treat.

Root Beer fans rejoice!

The Bastard Stepson Root Beer Kit has been my favorite since I got back into brewing a few years back, after an absence of several decades. It was tough doing without it when the Gnome root beer additive was unavailable, but now that it’s back I’m looking forward to opening another bottle in a week or so after the requisite waiting period.

sweet root beer

I did not expect such a strong root beer flavor. I probably should have used half the extract or maybe even less. I put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in and it was as good as any root beer float that I have had. I suggest bottle it only do not put in a keg unless you really like root beer.

If You Like Root Beer... Don't Hesitate To Brew!

Very tasty and refreshing. I agree with the substitution of Stevia for the included sweetener. Makes for a smoother taste. Also added 12oz of Rebel Yell Root Beer whisky at bottling as a kicker. Outstanding result.

This is my favorite beer ever and it's not sickening sweet like the commercial hard rootbeers
