Product Details

Jet-black in the tradition of Ireland's most popular and well-known beers, this stout has a pronounced roasty, coffee-like flavor and aroma, imparted by a generous helping of roasted barley.

A dry stout of incomparable quality carefully crafted to resemble the classics known throughout the world.

For this beer we went back to basics with a simple grain bill that spotlights the soul of any stout: roasted barley. Expect a clean malt character balanced by the bitterness of hops and roasted barley, topped of with a dry finish that includes notes of coffee and dark chocolate. But don’t be deceived by the darkness- this black beauty goes down smooth with a just-right roasty bite that will keep you coming back for more.

Lighter than Expected

Our finished product is very good, excellent flavor, but not quite what we expected from a kit labeled as an Irish Stout. It is lighter in color and opacity than the images shown on the listing. Ours turned out much closer to a brown ale than a stout. We would like to try the recipe again but add a bit of Carafa III to the mix. We only have one bottle left of our 10 that we had before the holidays, so it wasn't a bad brew by any means. It was very good.

A little goes a long way

Our first gallon brew. It is not as smooth as some stouts more fizz. Still enjoyable. Fun for an easy brew compared to the 5 gallons we normally brew. Definitely try other gallon brews.

Nice box

Still hasn't finished brewing. So because of the relentless emails here is my review. Beautiful box with a little round red sticker with white lettering. Some ingredients, some words on paper. Fast shipping. Haven't finished brewing the beer. So without actually making the beer the best review I can offer is that the packaging is 5 star worthy. Great job.
