Easily the most widely used lager strain in the world. This yeast produces a distinct malty profile with some ester character and a crisp finish.
It is also a versatile strain; perfect for lagers or Pilsners with fermentations in the 45-55°F range.
It may also be used for Common beer production with fermentations at 65-68°F. A thorough diacetyl rest is highly recommended after primary fermentation is complete and before the lagering phase.
|Min Fermenting Temp||45|
|Max Fermenting Temp||68|
The yeast is as advertised. I should have ordered the dried yeast as It was a hot week when it came. The cool packs, had completely warmed up by the time it arrived. However it survived! It was slow to start, I think it was almost a week before I could detect any fermentation. However the first batch is brewed racked and lagering as I write this. First tastings are positive but its very early days.
