Carafa III is a key ingredient imparting color and flavor in dark beers. German roasted malt, comparable to Black malt. Gives a deeper aroma and color for dark beers. Recommended malt for any dark beer including, Bock, Altbier, Stout, Porter, and Schwartzbier.
Got it to try to stick to a more German malt in a dopplebock, good flavor and darkens well. If you don't want the more burnt flavor, go with a dehusked version.
