I made a russian imperial stout with pumpkin/spices this fall and chose not to strain it because... mostly I was lazy and it was taking forever to strain. It came out pretty poorly, so I definitely learned my lesson. It's a simple step and well worth it. Before I bought this model, I had picked up a cheap strainer off Amazon, and even though it was supposed to be stainless steel, it corroded almost immediately when I tried to sanitize it. Don't skimp, spend the extra couple dollars. Well worth it.January 24, 2013Great for straining hops & grainI use this on every batch. If I am using specialty grains in an extract batch it is great to hold your grain bag and let it strain out while you bring your wort to a boil. It also is an amazing hop strainer. I would say it gets 90% of the solids out of your beer so they don't have to be in during primary fermentation. I couldn't imagine brewing without it.February 28, 2013Very sturdy and the right priceThis strainer is extremely well made and friendly on the wallet too. Great for straining - but beware of you are brewing a partial mash even this large size isn't quite big enough to be convenient.January 24, 2013Quality StrainerWorks great for draining and sparging with BIAB. Holds steady right on top of the kettle. Also works like a champ for straining hops when pouring into the fermenter.January 28, 2013PerfectThis is exactly what I was looking for when pouring from my brew pot to my fermenter. It is fantastic!February 4, 2013Fits right over my bucket.I drain from the ball valve through a tube right into the strainer. This catches any lose particles and help aerate the wort. The strainer is coarse enough that it doesn't clog with very tiny particles.February 9, 2013Strain AwayWorked great in straining the grains out of the brew kettle. Durable build and goes through a dishwasher well.February 18, 2013EssentialAfter trying virtually every other kind of strainer you can imagine, this one works like a dream. Its fine enough to allow your wort through but course enough to catch 95% of the trub. This is a must have!February 21, 2013Must have tool! This strainer makes transferring your wort to the fermenter so easy. You don't have to worry about that nasty hop debris getting in. This size is large enough for nearly any beer. Great Product!February 26, 2013Exactly the right size. This is the type of strainer I've used, and it really makes a difference over the strainers that clip into a funnel or using some poorly designed kitchen strainer. The hooks on the strainer are helpful, and it's great to have a strainer just for brewing, because it won't be dirty or collect little bits of food over time.March 3, 2013
