Check the PH
I like these because they are simple and give me a quick check of my light colored wine's PH and an idea of the acid level as well.

Basic tool for acidity.
Pardon the pun. I like having this on hand to make adjusting the acid mix easier and less guesswork.

pH paper not suitable for red wine testing
Cannot recommend this product, with red wine. I had no white to test. My red wine made the paper red and you could not read the color necessary to take a reading. It may be useful for other than red?

Fast results
It;s inexpensive and gives fast results. It's not as precise as I would like but it's better than nothing. Given the price it's a reasonable investment but I'd suggest eventually getting a pH meter.

Got me started
Easy to use, fast results, a good step for new wine makers. If you stick with the hobby consider a pH meter instead, but its ok to start out with.

For a beginner its good
Its an inexpensive way for a beginner wine maker to get a sense of what the pH of their wine is. As you gain experience you may want a better pH meter, but this is ok to start with.

For the new wine maker
These strips will give you an idea whats going on and are a good place to start because of their price. They are roughly accurate but can be off .2 pH._x000D_If you become more advanced you will want a good pH meter and stop using these.

good product for the beginner
I am still a beginner with homebrewing and these strips work fine for me right now.

Good enough to start out with
I now have a pH meter and no longer use these, but when starting out they are ok. They aren't as accurate, but they are easy to use and give fast results. It works with both reds and whites too. I think the pH maybe be off .2 based on comparing with my pH meter.

When testing red wine should a distilled water be added for seeing the proper reading on strips?
