I use it for mead when i want more than just a gallon.
Referring to complaints about the lids and being airtight, etc. I use some plumbers Teflon tape on the top edge of the bucket to a better seal. It makes it easier to install the lid (although you still may have to use a mallet to assure it's on). The tape also makes lid removal easier also, but you may need new tape to reinstall the lid. I have also found that a lid removal tool (for 5 gal buckets) makes it MUCH easier to get the lid off. You can get them at hardware stores for a couple of bucks.
The 2 gallon bucket is a great , convenient size for small batches!

Disposable bucket
Don't count on this bucket to last more than one use, the stupid lid the design where you basically have to destroy the lid to get it off broke the bucket as well. Complete junk.

Good bucket
Love it. Worked out well for my one-gallon wine recipes. The measurement markings on the side are a nice feature too.
