5.0 / 5.07 ReviewsA good kit to start kegging you small batch brewsOverall- this kit is a great way to get into kegging while doing mostly small (1- 2 gallon) batch brewing or to keg part of a larger brew. Just attach your CO2 tank and tighten everything up (mine needed a fair bit), and you are good to go. _x000D__x000D_The value of all the included components is good in my opinion, and if you can get it on special (which run pretty frequently), you can get a great deal. It's can be a bit frustrating that small and obscure keg sizes can be more costly than the standard 5g size, but the packaged value of this kit makes the price more reasonable. _x000D__x000D_Keg- The quality of the seams and welds are good, and the surface has that new stainless shine. Connections and seal function as they should. The handles make it easy to swirl or shake when force carbing and seem like they also would allow for stacking (though I haven't tried this). Having used this keg a couple times now, I would say it performs as desired and I have no complaints. _x000D__x000D_The governor- The staple regulator around here. Mine arrived well packaged and with no bends or defects in the gauge faces others have mentioned. This to me is a solid regulator, with the included MFL connections, a check valve, and gauge guards. The only thing I wish it had was a larger rubber diaphragm (which other regulators do and makes more fine adjustments in pressure easier as I understand it). Overall, it gets the job done for what I need it to do, again a more reasonable value in this package deal. _x000D__x000D_The lines- Solid ball locks with MFL connections and appropriate lengths of tubing. Easy, and exactly what I would want, ready to go.July 9, 2015greateverything except the beer and a co2 tankFebruary 25, 2016Excellent kegging system. Instructions wereExcellent kegging system. If this will be your first keg set up you will soon find that unless you only do small batches, you will want more beer on tap. I am looking forward to being able to pack this baby in a cooler this summer and take it along or just use on the deck. Its works great!February 24, 2016

Browse 11 questions Browse 11 questions and 16 answersIs it possible to inject nitrogen into the beer with this setup? How would you go about it?BEST ANSWER: The Cannonball Keg will work perfectly fine for Nitro beer as will any other keg. However, you will need special equipment for injecting; the nitrogen. A tank specifically designed for notrogen gas or Gmix gas )75% notrogen - 25% co2), a nitrogen regulator & a special faucet. Is the regulator for the cannonball compatible with the threaded 74g CO2 cartridges?BEST ANSWER: Maybe with some type of converter. The regulator in this system is designed to work with 5 lb or larger CO2 cartridges. 74 gram cartridges require a mini regulator.Once the beer is carbonated, can you disconnect the C02 line and tank so the mini-keg will fit in the fridge??BEST ANSWER: You can. It will hold its pressure without CO2 hooked up, and if you push in a little extra pressure, you can still dispense from the keg as well, though it might be an imperfect pour(foamy). That being said, if relying on a co2 tank to carbonate, the keg should be cold during carbonation. You can add priming sugar and store at room temp for 2 weeks and it will carbonate that way as well. What are the actual demensions of this kegBEST ANSWER: Base Diameter (diameter of body): 9"
Height of Body (not including handles): 9.375"
Height with Handles: 10.75"
Base Inset/Top of handle diameter: 8.5"Is there a way to adapt this to a keg refrigerator that has American style tap system?BEST ANSWER: Yes, but what you are doing is modifying the gas and beverage lines to be able to be connected to this style of keg. If a person adds "MFL tailpieces" to a commercial beer Sankey coupler, you can easily set up your system to be able to swapped back and forth very easily. With the MFL tailpieces in place on the Sankey coupler, and "swivel nuts" installed in the gas and beer lines, you can swap the lines to have Ball-lock disconnects on them, so switching back and forth takes about 2 minutes. -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesCan you advise how to carbonate the beer in this mini. Not sure what Psi and for how long.BEST ANSWER: Force carbonation for this, and all, kegs is a function of time, temperature, and pressure. In short the colder temps, higher pressure, and longer amount of time will lead to more carbonation. For most ale a keg chilled to 40F at 20 psi will be carbonated in about two days. Here is a link to our playist on kegging: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1D0AE76D627D7A42Can I use this to carbonate white wine and then bottle it?BEST ANSWER: That would be possible, but you'd need to bottle it in the right sort of bottles, and not regular wine bottles with corks; the CO2 pressure would push out the corks eventually. With the proper kegging gear, and a bottle filler, you could carbonate almost any liquid and bottle it up. -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesCan you explain what 'real-time carbonation control' means?BEST ANSWER: This is presented as one benefit to kegging, as opposed to bottling. When you bottle, you just throw sugar in the beer and seal the bottles, whatever carbonation you get is what you get. You can both increase and decrease the carbonation level in the keg with a simple turn of a dial and then waiting a few days, more or less. But, it means you can always fix carbonation issues or dial it in to your preference - the key here is 'control'. Keggers have it, bottlers leave it out of their hands after bottling day. What's the weight of the mini draft kegging with CO2 regulator?BEST ANSWER: This system, as shipped, weighs about 8 lbs. -Mike W, Midwest SuppliesSo another question! Can you run nitro with this system or is it CO2 only?BEST ANSWER: Hey Jason,
You can run Nitro with the keg, but you will need a different regulator that can handle the higher pressure of nitrogen, and a different tap as the tap for nitrogen is far different from a standard tap. The nitrogen tap forces the beer/gas through a restriction plate to force the nitrogen into solution and produce a cascading head. Are the components for the Draft Brewer Cannonball Mini Keg system compatible with larger kegs? In other words, can you mix and match with the Draft Brewer™ 5-Gallon Kegs? We have not gone beyond the 1.3 gallon mini kegs yet and are looking for the best and most versatile solution for the next step.BEST ANSWER: Hey Jason
Thank you for choosing Midwest! The components are most definitely compatible with the larger kegs as long as you purchase kegs that are the Ball Lock type.
