These immersion-type chillers are submerged into the wort during the last 15 minutes of the boil for sanitization. Then simply attach the chiller to either a garden hose, or your kitchen faucet (requires the faucet adapter, sold separately). Once attached, run cold water through the wort chiller, and your wort will be at pitching temp in about fifteen minutes.
