Product Details

Once known as the most exotic fruit, the pineapple has long been a sign of hospitality and welcoming. Rather than having a pineapple adorn your entryway, welcome guests with a fresh batch of Pineapple hard seltzer - one of our newest flavors! The all-natural crystallized pineapple powder creates a 5.5% ABV hard seltzer that’ll have you dreaming of Hawaii in no time (technically 4 weeks).

When you keep it simple, clean, and all-natural, it’s easy to create a superior beverage. Crystallized Pineapple is made with real fruit and is sugar-free.

Notes from Brad, Northern Brewer Development Brewer:

“Hard seltzer waters are all the rage these days, so why not ride the wave? This kit is a very simple and straightforward fermentation consisting only of dextrose (corn sugar). The resulting product is boozy water, coming in right at about 5.5% ABV and is then flavored with all-natural crystallized lemon strawberry powder.

To ensure the best results with this kit, be sure to follow the directions and add the yeast nutrient packets according to the schedule described. Adding yeast nutrients in staggered additions ensures that the yeast remain happy and healthy and will avoid any off-flavors that stressed-out yeast can generate.

The fermentation will be complete within 2 weeks or so, but be sure to leave this batch sit for a few additional weeks to allow the yeast to drop out of solution and leave behind a clear beverage.

We have also included more flavoring than likely needed, so you can decide how intense to make the flavor - add a little at a time and taste until you are happy with the taste."

My experience

I have brewed dozens of their beer kits with great success, however these seltzer kits are trash. I ordered four kits and brewed the first kit per the instructions but did not take any specific gravity measurements assuming it would land somewhat close to the desired ABV like any other kit I received from them in the past. The first batch was a raspberry and like many reviews the flavor was almost nonexistent and tasted like dead yeast. I suspected the ABV was very low but couldn’t be sure without any measurements, that’s on me. Fast forward to the second batch, I brewed exactly to the instructions, fermented in a warmer environment (70 degrees Fahrenheit) added yeast nutrient as instructed. Today was week 5 (I gave one week extra to help the dead yeast settle out) and about to keg the batch I checked my gravity and realized it had barely fermented. OG 1.034 down to 1.026 = 1.05% ABV. Also, out of the four kits, at least one yeast packet was expired by six months. I did not check the date on the first batch but I assumed that was expired as well and resulted in the low ABV and yeast flavor. This second batch I ensured the y east was not expired and rehydrated it per the yeast instructions but still failed to ferment. I have pitched another yeast packet (from my 3rd kit) to see if this will finish fermentation before dumping it down the drain. If the additional yeast does work, I will need to order two more yeast packets and additional flavoring for the remaining kits. I have already purchased additional flavoring for the current batch, if it ever gets beyond sugar water stage. In closing, save your money, buy your wife’s hard seltzer elsewhere and continue brewing your exceptional beers like I wish to had. Good luck and happy home brewing. I would give zero stars if possible but the 1 star reviews don’t even appear. 🤷‍♂️
