Italy's biggest red, this wine is a true blockbuster, with the grapes soaking up all of the intense sunshine and power of the soil and giving it back in a dense, ripe, full-bodied wine. The bouquet is darkly spicy, with dried black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice, tobacco and cassis notes and flavors of dried fruit, fig, raisin, tart cherry and coffee carry through to a profoundly tannic finish that grips the palate and lasts long after every sip.
Robust enough for the richest dishes, this wine is brilliant with grilled porterhouse, osso buco or dry, sharp cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano.

I made this last winter and it was very good, so I ordered another kit.
Delivered as promised, haven't started, but have been pleased with Master Vintner and their products.
This was an inexpensive kit and my final batch was magnificent. This is one of those rare finds that I look for so hard.
Just bottled this batch after 5 weeks and it is very tasty
I still don't know exactly what grapes are in this blend, but I like it. It's currently aging in a carboy and I have yet to bottle it. I've sampled it at 1, 3 and 6 months. Added part of an oak spiral at 3 months. Has classic Chianti characteristics and is an austere Italian style wine. Not heavy on fruit. It has matured quite a bit from post-fermentation and I expect that it will continue to improve with time. Plan to bottle at 9 months to 1 year and expect to start consumption at 14 months.
