Product Details

The Tilt Wireless Hydrometer and Thermometer is at the cutting edge of new digital devices made specifically for the homebrewing community. This free-floating gadget acts as both a real-time gravity testing hydrometer and thermometer from inside your fermenter during fermentation.

Being able to check your fermentation status from your compatible Apple iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Tilt Pi and most Bluetooth 4.0+ Bluetooth devices means virtually no susceptibility to contamination or oxygen pickup in your fermenter. Data can be saved automatically to the cloud with free Google Sheets template or your own, favorite 3rd party cloud platform. Search for the Tilt app in your app store on your device.

Tilt comes calibrated and fully-assembled with a pre-installed battery. Download the free app, sanitize the unit, drop into the fermenter and start tracking your readings with your synced device.

Multiple Unit Users: If using more than one Tilt Hydrometer and Thermometer at a time, you must use a different color Tilt for each batch. Apps will not read multiple hydrometers of the same color. Midwest Supplies offers 8 different colors for multiple, simultaneous fermentations.

Features include:

  • Range: Ability to send data through large, thick-walled fermenters.
  • Precision: Specific gravity is accurate within +/- 0.002 if brewing in the range of .990 - 1.120. Thermometer is accurate within +/- 1 degree fahrenheit.
  • Universal: Works in most standard carboys, corny kegs, refrigerators, stainless steel fermenters, even under pressure!

Prompt delivery for a valued product.

Midwest delivered a fine product in a timely manner. This was my second Tilt 2 (Blue) hydrometer/thermometer. I am using it in my second BrewArt BeerDroid. Checking the SG of a brew in helpful in managing the process. No need to draw a sample. Just check the SG on my iPhone. Great way to brew.

Tilt Hydrometer

Only ding on the product is it doesnt read well through stainless primary brewing equipment. I needed to have my phone within a foot of the container in order for it to get a reading. Otherwise, love the product. It makes it a lot easier to know where your beer or wine is at in the fermentation process without having to open up the fermentation container.

Impressive

I've only used the Tilt hydrometer one time but I'm impressed so far. It's easy to use and provides the temp and specific gravity real time and the logged data can be easily sent to your email account. I just began fermenting in a stainless steel vessel so it's nice to have the real time specific gravity information since I can't see the actual fermentation occurring. With a stainless steel vessel, you have to be within a couple feet of the Tilt in order to get a reading. My only concern is how long the battery will last so I'll find out soon enough. I've only had the unit for about 6 weeks so far.

I’ve used it once and it worked quite well. I have a stainless steel fermenter so I need to put my iPhone really close to get a reading. It then sends the information to Google Sheets. I do this once a day so I can track SG. It is much easier than taking a sample, cleaning up and then wasting the sample.
Temperature readings are a little off from the built in temperature probe in the Grainfather conical fermenter. I believe that is because the built in probe is down low and the Tilt is on top. So far I really like the Tilt.

Easiest hydrometer ever

As advertised, unit simple to use and when placed in at start of fermentation you don't have to worry about contamination by opening to get a reading.
Found the unit very accurate and simple to use.
