This package is designed for use in a six gallon batch and the whole pack must be used to achieve the intended results.
I used these in a 5 gal batch of merlot from concentrate. Boiled 5-10 min. to sanitize, put them in a sanitized strainer with a small sanitized jelly jar and let them sit for a week. Tasted before and after. The difference was astonishing! Then I rinsed and boiled and got them ready for one of my other "country" wines. Let them sit in for a week. It truly is amazing what a little oak can do. Now if the wine will only last through the year so I can see what some bottle aging can do!
