Product Details

Some Scottish historians theorize that Charles Stuart didn't flee Scotland after the failed 1745 uprising; instead, he had a few too many Wee Heavies in the Outer Hebrides and then just sort of woke up in France. History may keep her secrets, but you can share the experience of a Wee Heavy. There's a little Jacobite Revolution in every bottle.

These are the very strongest of all Scottish ales, with a garnet-brown hue, profound maltiness and high alcohol content. Our Wee Heavy showcases complex toffee and vinous notes and a restrained hop character. Best imbibed in small doses, this kit continues to develop with age and is great for cellaring.

If you enjoyed Work Boot Scottish Wee Heavy, you'll love this kit!

Recommended: 2-stage fermentation and yeast starter.

Disaster

Not sure what went wrong probably outsider contamination. Beer was flat and extremely sour. I pitched it. First time for everything

Scottish wee heavy

This is a good one. Very reminiscent of good Belgium ales. It has hidden kick, so worth making each glass last. This will be a regular go to kit.

Great Kit, waiting patiently

Great easy to follow kit. Sampled after primary fermentation an expect it to turn out to be one of my better batches.

Notes abt Scottish Wee Heavy instructions

I really like how the kit was packed, with the options for yeast. However, I activated the yeast pack the day before as per direction and wasn’t sure if I was supposed to put back into the fridge or leave it out at room temp- I put it in the fridge overnight and pulled back out on brew day- the pack had expanded so the yeast was active when I poured into the wort. The airlock was working 48 hrs later but then just stopped by 72 hrs so I’m not sure whether or not it’s done before the 1-2 week period....the airlock was not clogged. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to open and inspect or not. I’ve been making beer for several years and this is the first time I’ve experienced this result. You thoughts on next steps so I don’t prime and bottle before it’s ready? Thx
