Scoby didn't grow

So this was our first try at doing Kombucha but we have been brewing and making wine for a very longtime. We followed the instructions to a tee but things didn't seem to happen. The scoby didn't grow. It actually got really funky looking with a membrane and tentacles like a jellyfish. It also smells bad. I have brewed enough to know that smell. Back in the late 90s my dad used to make a tea that used a scoby (I think it was kombucha before kombucha) and it never looked or smelled like this. We were very excited to try this because the tea in the kit is amazing. We would buy the tea alone for drinking. We will try again!

Delicious booch!

Loved this recipe. Super easy to make & well worth the value! They give plenty of tea & sugar to make several gallons (and obviously the scoby lasts even longer). Highly recommend
