Product Details

A classic English ale strain suitable for many British styles, especially porters and stouts. Fast and highly flocculant, this strain will produce very clear beers. Ferment in the low to mid 60's for a cleaner profile. Temperatures closer to 70 will help produce the fruity esters characteristic of some styles.
Yeast: Safale S-04 (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) Properties: A well-known, commercial English ale yeast, selected for its fast fermentation character and its ability to form a very compact sediment at the end of the fermentation, helping to improve beer clarity. This yeast is recommended for the production of a large range of ale beers and is specially well adapted to cask-conditioned ales and fermentation in cylindro-conical tanks. Sedimentation: high. Final gravity: medium.

Good Basic Brewing Strain

This is a good, basic, ale yeast strain, suitable for lots of different ales. This is what you want as a beginner, or when brewing something simple & inexpensive, ..., when you don't need a style & region specific strain for a very specific brew. I've never had a packet fail. ALSO great when doing a historic yeast bread that uses real "beer barm" for leaven, to impart the proper flavor that you simply won't get from a generic, bread yeast.

My go to yeast!

Always works. I've had some liquid yeast that does not.
