4.6 / 5.018 ReviewsWorks, but I have some concernsThe FF setup was easy to assemble and gets the job done. My concerns are these: The handles are made of cheap plastic and are fastened to the coolers with 4 small screws, which nearly pulled out during my first use of this equipment. The handles themselves are poorly designed, and during lifting, they smash fingers against the wall of the cooler when filled. Probably more important though is that the cooler lids are not air tight, and my mash lost about 4 degrees F over the course of an hour. I even heated the mash tun with boiling water before adding strike water and dough-in. Perhaps the larger airspace in a 16 lb grain bill requires a higher strike water temp. Even so, the lids should be airtight to keep the heat inside the coolers.June 16, 2016Good system, weak handlesI'm happy with this system. easy to use, high quaility false bottom and valves. But one word of warning: don't even think about lifting the coolers with the handles unless they are mostly empty. Very weak and held on with a few screws in plastic.September 7, 2015Worth BuyingI just got done using this 10 gallon kit and will say that after an hour of the mash the strike water only lost 2 degrees. The price is very reasonable and it is very easy to assemble._x000D_I will say that it came with pipe tape and the instructions did not say were to use the tape, after some research I used the tape on the outside of the coolers for the fittings. _x000D_This was well worth the investment.June 19, 2014Great, flexible system for common brew sizes!I was originally going to get the smaller system, but figured for a few dollars more, why not upgrade and have the flexibility for the future?_x000D__x000D_This is a great system - easy to assemble and does the job very well. I'm pleased with the overall quality of the coolers and the valves. This system ended up being a better deal than what my local brew shop had - and that's taking shipping into account.April 6, 2015Solid kit.Easy to assemble, easy to clean. Holds temperature respectably. I had a little bit of a learning curve. I need to preheat the mash tun or heat my strike water an extra few degrees to account for initial heat loss. Wimpy handles are why it's not getting 5 stars.February 2, 2017Purchased

Was a little disappointed after learning about brew in a bag. Then read some articles about hardest beers to brew. Among them Belgian witbier. My fav. So now I feel good about the purchase. No leaks easy to assemble. Holds temperature well.January 14, 2017Purchased

One is your Mash Tun and the other your Lauter Tun. I use them every week and they hold temperature very well. The pic shows two coolers dose the kit include two or one?BEST ANSWER: Two coolers: (1) A mash tun with the false bottom, and (2) a hot liquor tank.
This is a very nice product. Keeps very consistent temperatures even in freezing cold weather.will this work for 5 gal batch?BEST ANSWER: This is perfect for 5 gallon batches. I've made several 5 gallon batches using this equipment with great results. The coolers retain heat well during the mash and are big enough to hold volumes for fly and batch sparging. Is this durable?BEST ANSWER: So far so good. I've had about 6 months and brewed about 8-10s with it. The handles should really only be used when empty or nearly empty. Soon after buying this kit I installed a Blichmann Autosparge in it to allow me to keep the lid on and retain heat and added a heating element to the HLT to raise and maintain sparge temp easily. What else would I need to buy to round out this set and make it more complete ?BEST ANSWER: Hi there. I purchased this set about a year ago. The set here is mostly just the Mash Tun and Hot Liquor Tank for an all-grain system. With any luck, you hopefully already have a homebrewer's essentials kit like the Midwest Platinum Pro Beer Brewing kit.
Once you've extracted your hot liquor, you'll still need to boil it like an extract brew, so pretty much everything from extract brewing carries over. One optional upgrade for your all grain kit might be a pump to help you vorlauf, but I get by just fine with a few sterilized pitchers, so I think it's up to you. Another good optional add-on would be a grain mill like the Captain Crush, so that you can mill your own grains - but again, Midwest sells pre-milled grain too, so this is optional and to your own tastes and preferred level of control.
I'm sure things can get more technical, but honestly, as long as you have a basic homebrewing extract kit and this all-grain kit, you should be just fine.
Good luck!will this work for a 10 gallon batch?BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can make 10 gallons of beer with this starter kit. The trick to holding a steady temp is to fill the cooler as much as possible. The cooler is technically 11.7 gallons in capacity. This means at most you can mash just about 29 pounds, very messy, but if you manage good efficiencies and get it to exactly 10 gallons of wort, that would max you out at about 1.075.Can you please inform the dimension of the cooler?
Qlso inform the total size of the package.BEST ANSWER: Shipping box dimensions: 16" x 16" x 22". Cooler inside diameter 13 5/8", outside diameter 15 1/2", total height with lid on 21". Great system so far.Is a sparge arm included?BEST ANSWER: It doesn't include a sparge-arm, but it does include tubing and a "fighter jet" sparge sprayer. Super easy to use, works well. You may want a sparge arm for more precise control down the road, but what's included works just fine. Are the bronze ball valves lead free?BEST ANSWER: These ball valves are lead-free.
