DetailsDirect from the Austrian Alps, this strain will produce rich, full-bodied and malty beers with a complex flavor profile and a great mouth feel. Attenuates well while still leaving plenty of malt character and body. Beers fermented with this strain will benefit from a temperature rise for a diacetyl rest at the end of primary fermentation.

5.0 / 5.01 ReviewBest Lager Yeast EVERI've used this yeast 2 times, each time it has come out, and it comes out every year. I wish this was a full time yeast. As far as lager yeasts go, I use the Budvar or StaroPrague (another limited edition) for my Czech-style beers, and I would use this one for all other lagers if I could. The resulting beers are always clean with this yeast. My first was a black lager. Last spring I made a Maibock that was quite ferocious. I really liked that beer. With this year's batch I will make a "Quad City Lager" - made with equal parts Pilsner, Munich, Koelsch and Vienna malts (see what I did there); 12 lbs total, and a mix of Hallertauer and Czech Saaz hops - my take on an "Export" style of beer; The ensuing cake will be used to ferment my Krampus doppelbock. _x000D__x000D_Always give this mug a good diacetal rest, and a good amount of oxygen.March 16, 2012
